Overwatch: Best Heroes Tier List

Our Overwatch hero tier list for ranks every Tank, DPS, and Support in the current meta. Updated picks, win rates, and patch analysis.

Last updated:

Overwatch has rebranded a couple of times, but what never changes is that the best heroes in the game win the games. Reign of Talon brought five new ones, including sub-passives and a balance patch affecting over a dozen characters. This Overwatch 2 tier list provides a complete hero list for this Overwatch 2 season, so you can lock in the right hero for your games.

How Heroes are Ranked

The ranking list considers four factors: competitive win rates from Diamond and above, pick rate trends from Blizzard's official hero stats page, tournament presence, and viability in Overwatch ranked play (without a coordinated team). This means both team play and solo queue matter.

Meta Overview

The current Overwatch 2 meta favors mobile, high-utility heroes capable of consistent team fight impact, with S-tier picks separating themselves through transformative abilities and reliable performance. Recent balance changes have widened the competitive field, creating clear distinctions between dominant staples and situational picks across all three roles.

S Tier

Tracer leads the damage category with her unrivaled flanking potential and elimination consistency, leveraging Blink and Recall for exceptional mobility and survivability during critical engagements. Sojourn complements her in the damage role with a powerful Railgun charge mechanic and Disruptor Shot, enabling high-value picks that punish grouped opponents. Mauga delivers devastating sustained damage and powerful self-sustain through his dual miniguns, making him a constant threat in prolonged team fights. Reinhardt anchors compositions with his barrier protection and decisive Earthshatter ultimate, providing the reliable frontline presence that many team structures depend on.

Kiriko dominates the support role with her teleport mobility, game-saving Protection Suzu, and lethal Kunai headshot potential that keeps opponents honest. Lucio rounds out S tier with his unmatched speed boost utility and Sound Barrier ultimate, enabling aggressive dives and last-second saves that few supports can replicate. Together, these six heroes consistently demonstrate the highest impact across diverse team compositions and map types, with their mobility tools and utility abilities creating opportunities that lower-tier heroes simply cannot match in the current competitive environment.

A Tier

A tier is densely populated with strong, versatile picks across all roles. D.Va, Winston, Sigma, Ramattra, and Junker Queen each bring distinct tank identities that suit a variety of compositions, from dive to brawl to poke. Genji, Ashe, Echo, and Pharah offer reliable damage output with enough mobility or range to remain competitive in most matchups. On the support side, Baptiste, Moira, and Mercy provide consistent healing and impactful utility, making them dependable choices even if they lack the ceiling of S-tier supports.

B Tier

B tier contains capable heroes that perform well in the right hands or specific situations. Zarya, Orisa, Wrecking Ball, Roadhog, Doomfist, and Hazard round out the tank options with niche strengths. Soldier: 76, Hanzo, Widowmaker, Mei, Junkrat, and Lifeweaver each offer situational value, though they require favorable conditions or strong coordination to reach their potential consistently.

C Tier

C tier heroes—Bastion, Sombra, Reaper, and Symmetra—struggle to find consistent footing in the current meta. Bastion's immobility and predictability make him a liability against coordinated teams, while Reaper's short range limits his effectiveness as dive compositions dominate. Sombra's hack-centric kit demands precise team coordination that rarely materializes at most levels of play, and Symmetra's teleporter utility, while occasionally impactful, is too situational to justify regular selection. All four heroes have narrow windows of viability that more versatile picks tend to close off entirely.

Looking Ahead

Season 2 is right around the corner with new heroes and content expected, but the best strategy remains the same: learn two to three of the best Overwatch 2 characters per role and keep track of patch changes to stay ahead. But keep in mind that this current Overwatch tier list is more of a guide, and the most important thing is to play a hero well.
